Grace Revolution

Col 1v6..since the day you heard it and understood God's Grace in all its Truth.

God’s mercy is often misconstrued for His grace. God’s grace, NOT the same as His mercy, is that power that comes upon us and gives us the strength to do (overcome) that which we would never have been able to do of our own accord ie it helps us to move in the Supernatural.( Refer examples in 2 Cor 12:9 and 4:7 ). The teaching below, titled Obtaining Both Mercy and Grace, gives a good explanation of the difference between these two:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Bible Verses ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rom 10:15 ..."I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whomever I will have
compassion."
11:5 In the same way then at the present time also there has
come into being a remnant according to the selection of grace.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Words of Ministry ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It is somewhat difficult to understand mercy and grace as they
are related to God's selection. Although we were selected and
foreknown by God in eternity past, when God came to call us,
we were in a pitiful situation, a situation which required
God's mercy. The enemy, the Devil, might have said to God,
"Look at this one who is Your selection. How pitiful he is!"
Then God might have said to Satan, "Satan, don't you realize
that this is a very good opportunity for Me to show My mercy?
Without such a pitiful person, how could I show My mercy? If
everyone were perfect and up to your standard, I would have no
one on whom to show mercy. Satan, this chosen one is the right
one to be the object of My mercy."

What about grace? As we have seen, grace is something of God
wrought into our being. We are not only the objects of God's
mercy; we are also the objects of His grace. We are under
God's mercy, and His grace is within us. We all can testify
that though we were most pitiful and miserable, God came in
and granted us His mercy and we repented. At that very time,
something divine-God's grace-was wrought into us. Now we are
not only under God's mercy; we also have His grace, the living
person of Christ as the Spirit, within us. This is God's
selection.

HI Sharon,
I believe that grace is a big word. it's all embracing. it is the revelation of everything that has been freely provided for us in Christ. This means that His empowering presence is grace, His mercy is grace, His love is grace. everything we have in Christ is grace.
What do you think?

My understanding -

Mercy - He takes away what we deserve - the punishment of our sin. Forgiveness. Through Jesus death on the cross.

Grace - He gave what we do not deserve - His blessings and gift of Righteousness. Through Jesus resurrection from the dead.

Receive His mercy and grace.

spot on!

Mercy, we dont get what we do deserve.

Justice, we do get what we deserve.

Grace, we get what we dont deserve (positivly)..all the blessings, and especially His presence

Ditto! You can't have one without the other (Mercy: not getting what we do deserve/God's pity & compassion, Grace: getting what we don't deserve/God's favor in our lives).

An excellent illustration is in the story of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32)

The father had compassion on him and loved on him (v.20/mercy)

The father put the best robe on his back, a ring on his finger, and sandals on his feet (v.22/grace)

Be blessed and "Go Forward!" (Ex. 14:14,15)

You can't forget the fatted calf! Notice he said "bring the fattened calf and kill it" It implies in front of him, He wanted to make sure he knew the sacrifice had been killed, blood had been shed. Where sin does abound, Grace Super abounds!
