Grace Revolution

Col 1v6..since the day you heard it and understood God's Grace in all its Truth.

So many believers seem to be weary now a days, they seem to know no rest. You see it in their eyes and on their faces, a wearing down, lines etched deep from the storms. But why is this? Jesus says that we who are weary and heavy burdened will find rest in him. But few seem to find that rest. Jesus was focusing his words to the religious of the day, they were bond and driven by their works... works to become righteous... works to stay righteous. Many believers today are weary and tired from their own efforts to keep the ole gospel ship afloat and heading in the right direction. Maybe we need to take example from the giver on how to rest. When the storms rage we want to stay up, have a vigil, a wake, a watch ,break out the oars and paddle, counting every wave that puts it's target on our ship. We build up our expectation by looking at what is in front of us, mole hills become mountains. We hear the deceivers voice like a flamboyant ring announcer in a boxing match building hype about every ripple exaggerating the play by play so that the fight seems more than it is.
But how do we find rest in all of this? Let's look at the giver of rest for example.

Mar 4:36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships.
Mar 4:37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full.
Mar 4:38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?
Mar 4:39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Mar 4:40 And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?
Mar 4:41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?

The phrase Peace, be still. in the greek is, "see-o-pah'-o fee-mo'-o" . See-o-pah'-o meaning an involuntary silence or hush and fee-mo'-o is an action verb meaning "to stop the mouth." So if we were to put a visual on the moment we would see Jesus standing up and screaming at the storm to SHUT UP! For too long have we seen the words "peace be still" and had this picture of a calm reverence, But we have to understand The God that is trying to teach us to rest when we can only hear the crashing waves, is just as concerned about the railings of the enemy in our lives as we are. Some times it is good for the children to see Dad stand up and raise his voice, it is an example of his authority and reassurance of his concern. By doing so Dad sets precedence for his heirs to express the same authority. Jesus said in Matt 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Verse 19 says"Go ye therefore" or according to that power. Jesus said ALL power in heaven and earth has been given to him, we being in him are also heirs to this promise. When the accusers voice come crashing at you, telling you , "you are a failure, you should feel condemned, are you sure you are saved, you should be ashamed, you are a disgrace", just remind him you are the righteousness of God in Christ. Rest in the knowledge that daddy has done give you the coat and ring and just in case it didn't sink in he killed the fatted calf right in front of you to seal the deal.

Those who find rest are not the ones setting in the boat telling God how big the waves are, it is the ones who know they can stand up and scream at the waves how big their God is. Knowing and trusting what God says about you allows one to sleep during the storms. Remember that the Ark only had one window on the top, God doesn't want us to concern ourselves with how strong the wind is or how high the waves are, he just wants us to look up for our rest. The same view can be found from the bottom of the boat.
